Spoonful Sunday: Stress Less

This weekend, Hubs and I took a much needed mini vacation to the beach.  It was amazing…

We don’t get away much – in fact, our last vacation was our honeymoon over a year ago.  But sometimes even just a couple of days away can really help clear your mind…

And help you remember that life should be enjoyed, not just endured.

As I sat contemplating the waves over my Kindle, I realized that I hadn’t even thought about my to-do list.  Not once.
And it felt GOOD.
Then I came home, and immediately got caught up in all the things that I felt like I had to do as soon as possible before Sunday ends.  Unpacking.  Laundry.  Litterboxes.  Piled up emails. Meal planning.  Grocery shopping.
And my stomach started to hurt.
I took that as a very clear sign that I needed to take a step back, and remember that I don’t have to accomplish every single thing I planned.
I still unpacked, started the laundry, took care of my kitties.  But I realized that I really need to focus on relaxing and taking care of myself, because it is just as important as my to-do list.  Some things can wait.
Like my inbox.

  1. I take at LEAST one "down day" a week... it helps me be more productive on the other 6 days. Just me & my hubby... not even 'friend' dates. Actually, even my friends know... they ask me if they want to get together... "Is this your 'down day' ?? It's important to let them know that it's not that you don't want to spend time with them, you're just prioritizing your "to dos/must dos".... :))

    1. That is such a great idea - I always try to work in a little down time but a whole day definitely does much more for my mental health than an hour here and there :) After relaxing yesterday and finishing my book I woke up raring to go this morning!

  2. I forget this so often Jenni and downtime without a to-do list is key!! thank you for the reminder! I heart my kindle too!!
