Mindful Eating–Not as Easy at it Sounds!

Just saw this post in my drafts…guess there was some error when I tried to publish it Tuesday!  Whoops.

My Q&A profile for winning the best non-beef burger contest went live yesterday evening!  I’m still a little bit in shock I think seeing my picture on the website, but hopefully it won’t be the last time it happens.  Check it out here!

Yesterday I talked about how the mindful eating was going well, and I did get off to a pretty good start.  Here’s my Evernote Food log for the day:

JUN 4, 2012

1338821706

Breakfast (for smoothie details, check out my Anatomy of a Smoothie post)

1338841063

Lunch – mixed baby romaine salad with leftover pan-fried turkey cutlet (dredged in potato starch and egg, then breaded with Glutino GF breadcrumbs)

1338843060

Post-workout Snack - Cho Time!

1338853427

Dinner – Trader Joe’s Sweet Basil Pesto Chicken & Turkey Sausage, brown rice, steamed broccoli

1338865128

Drink with dinner - glass of red

1338868224

Dessert – 2 mini brownies

(made in a mini muffin tin using Trader Joe’s GF Brownie Mix)

The bad part is what I didn’t photograph, after I made the decision to pour a second glass of wine.  At the time I rationalized that I had worked hard Sunday and Monday and deserved to cut loose a little and relax, but I should have said no – a second glass always lowers my willpower, and I ended up consuming a third mini brownie, a handful of Gorilla Munch, and a handful of potato chips.  Whoops.

That’s in the past though, and I can’t let the guilt break down my resolve – part of the mindful eating focus is nonjudgment.  Today is a new day, and a new chance to do better!
