Happy first day of June, everyone! I survived this morning’s personal training session and learned quite a lot about what my body is capable of (and a few things it is very much not capable of – yet!). I have a feeling I might not be so positive about it tomorrow when the soreness kicks in…but no pain, no gain, right?
When I got home, I got the wonderful news that my burger won the contest! Thanks so much to everyone that voted for me, and I really hope that you enjoy the recipe if you try it. They’re going to do a blog post on me next week that I will share with you all, but I couldn’t wait to tell my news
So on to Gluten-Free Friday with today’s feature, my new favorite GF cereal! I picked up Gorilla Munch on a whim at Whole Foods the other week when I had a coupon, and I am so glad I did.
Normally I wouldn’t have gotten it, since cereal targeted to kids is nothing but processed crap. Not when it comes to Nature’s Path Envirokidz line, though! Gorilla Munch has only three ingredients – corn meal, cane juice and salt. It’s still a sweet cereal, with 8g of sugar per 3/4 cup, but that’s actually 1g less than Honey Nut Chex, and it’s not refined sugar. Plus it has less fat, twice the fiber and about half the sodium, and it’s both certified gluten free and organic. I was sold even before I tasted it. After tasting it, I had to go buy more
It’s light and crunchy, and very addictive! Hubs said it reminded him of Kix, although I definitely think it’s sweeter and crunchier. If you’ve ever had Oh’s cereal (my absolute favorite pre-GF), it tastes like the crunchy rings. It’s great by itself or with milk, and it doesn’t get soggy quickly like Chex can.
It doesn’t even give you GF sticker shock – it’s just $2.99 at my Whole Foods, and there’s even a printable Whole Foods coupon available for $1.50 off two Envirokidz products that’s good through July 31st that will bring that down to $2.24 a box (or look for it in the Whole Deal flyer at the store).
Happy Friday, everyone! Hope your weekend is getting off to a great start.
