First Anniversary Celebration

We had a wonderful time celebrating our anniversary last night!

Hubs showed up with a beautiful branch of budding pink stargazer lilies with a perfect single bloom…

We opened a very special bottle of wine that we’ve been saving for this very occasion…

(special thanks to my dad for giving it to us!)

And cooked a delicious, decadent meal together.

We celebrate special occasions at home a lot, since we both love to cook, and we usually end up doing what you see above – grilled steak, veggies and baked potatoes.  Just like getting the steakhouse experience at home, but much more affordable, and it’s so simple!  Stick a couple potatoes in the oven, season up a steak and throw it on the grill, and microwave some fresh green beans.  You get an amazing meal with very little effort, and as a bonus there are almost no dishes to deal with afterward Smile

We also exchanged gifts of course – I got a gift in the first anniversary “paper” tradition - a photo book I created on Picaboo with our honeymoon photos, plus a movie of the photos I put together with Windows Live Movie Maker.  We had a great time reliving that once-in-a-lifetime vacation!

Hubs said he stuck with the paper gift theme too, and proceeded to give me a flash drive.  I looked at him questioningly and he told me that it contained the entire collection of Harry Potter ebooks for my Kindle.  So not paper, but sort of – Hubs always likes to be different!  He knows me well though, as it’s exactly what I wanted.  I’m a huge fan of the series but the big books are awkward.  Now I can hold them all in the palm of my hand, perfect for summer reading!  Thanks, Hubs, for embracing my inner dork Smile

Wedding post coming later!
