Deals & Freebies

This morning I wanted to share a few deals and freebies.  I always enjoy finding a good bargain!

Freebie AlertFirst up is one I’ve already mentioned but it’s still good if you want to grab it – you can get a free credit for $2 towards mp3s on Amazon for sharing your favorite song on Facebook.  The credit expires 5/24, so act fast!  I picked up another great workout song courtesy of Pitbull – at first I wasn’t too sure about it but one of my old favorites is remixed with it and I knew I had to have it.  Can you remember what movie it’s from?

My next freebie alert is not one you can get right now, but a birthday freebie post on Trading Up Downtown recently reminded me of a couple of great birthday perks at Aveda and Sephora.  If you sign up with your birthday, they’ll send you a card a couple weeks in advance that is good for a free gift during your birthday month.  Last year at Aveda I got a full-size custom scented product of my choice, and Sephora gave me a nearly full-size special edition bottle of philosophy shower gel that smelled like birthday cake.  Neither require a purchase, just a birthday!  You can sign up for Aveda here, and Sephora here.

Deal Alert

During my wedding anniversary week I posted about the great bags I was able to find at the Dollar Tree for the welcome gifts.  I was flipping through the Sunday ads and spotted them advertised again!  Last year they had green, light blue, yellow and red.  These bags are very sturdy, I still use mine, and you really can’t beat that price.

Now, I can’t have a deals post without bringing up coupons!  There are a couple of coupons available online for products I’ve used on the blog this week that I wanted to share.

I completely missed mentioning this on Friday when I posted about San-J Gluten-Free Tamari – there’s a coupon available on the Whole Foods website for 55 cents off any San-J sauce.  They’ve had this coupon consistently for the past few months, the latest one is good through 7/31. You can also pick these up while at the store, all their online coupons are in the Whole Deal booklet.

Also, Organic Girl is offering a $1 off coupon for signing up on their website.  They sell all kinds of greens and salad mixes, and I have always been happy with the quality.  I used their spinach in the turkey burgers I made last week.  Here in NC they are sold at Whole Foods and Earth Fare, there is also a store locator on the site.

Getting the Sunday paper is also a good idea, since you can find a lot of coupons not available online.  As I’ve said before, I’m not one of the people who can walk out with a cart full of groceries for $1, but I do clip regularly and take advantage of coupon promotions.  This week at Harris Teeter they’ve been doing Triple Coupons again (ends today), and I was able to get some great deals.  Everything shown in this picture totaled less than $5!  My best deals were the tortilla chips for 25 cents and the Ortega seasoning packets for 5 cents each.

(yes, I know there is bread here.  I’m not cheating!  Hubs is not GF, but is great about eating GF meals with me all the time, and in return I show the same courtesy and keep some normal bread and pasta in stock for him)

Next time you go to the store, take time to check out their advertised sales, and keep an eye out for coupons for your favorite brands.  You’d be surprised at how quickly they add up!
